Outreach

The DFW Center for Autism Outreach program provides quality consultative and direct treatment services to children, families, and other providers for individuals with developmental disabilities. All DFWCfA providers are supervised by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) with Master Degrees in Behavior Analysis. An Outreach ABA program will include Program Reviews, Specialized Training, and Functional Analysis (as needed). However, these services are now available to educational and treatment entities through the DFWCfA's Training Program. (While these services are described below and can be included in a child's individualed in-home ABA Outreach program, click the "Training" link above for more information on how to access these services for your school or treatment center.)

Supervision, Oversight, and In-home ABA Treatment Services
Empirical evidence has shown that individuals of all ages benefit from intensive ABA treatment. Some families incorporate in-home treatment full time (25-40 hours) while others choose to supplement their current educational services with in-home ABA treatment. Our consultation services included providing certified professional supervision and oversight for ABA in-home programs such as assessment, treatment program development, and development of behavioral measurement system(s) and analysis. Beginning in Fall 2006, ABA treatment Implementation is also provided via DFWCfA trained providers. Ongoing parent and provider training are a part of these Outreach services and is an integral part of a successful ABA program. Treatment is designed to address multiple skill areas such as social and play skills, fine/gross motor skills, academics, self-help/independence, and community skills.

Program Review
Program Reviews may be used to evaluate ongoing treatment or education, These reviews may be conducted for individual families, schools, or other agencies serving people with developmental disabilities. Reviews are conducted in cooperation and in conjunction with supervising consultants or agencies. The Program Review will include recommendations for current and future treatment and education goals, training methods and procedures, and measurement systems for ongoing self-evaluation. (Click the "Training" link above more more information on how to get a Program Review for your child, client, or student.)

Specialized Training
Included in this service are training systems and implementation for staff, educators, treatment providers, and/or parents with the goal being these providers ultimately be able to utilize various behavioral methods to develop new social/academic behaviors and/or replacement behaviors. Workshops and presentations are often included as a cornerstone of Specialized Training. This service was developed to meet the needs of not only families, but also schools and treatment centers (click the "Training" link for more information).

Elmo and meFunctional Behavior Assessment
This service is solely provided when it is necessary to identify the variables responsible for maintaining problematic or undesired behaviors. A Functional Behavior Assessment is typically conducted in the child's daily setting (such as home, a treatment facility, or school). In order to assess behavioral functions, environmental contingencies are manipulated and data is collected to identify how those contingencies affect individual responding. That information leads to the development of treatment and teaching procedures that emphasize the replacement of the undesired behaviors with appropriate and functionally equivalent behaviors. With proper training and follow-up, this service most often results in a decrease in the undesired behavior and an increase in a socially appropriate replacement behavior. (Click the "Training" link above for more information on getting obtaining this service for your school or treatment center.)
