Description:
In this workshop, we will enable you to better identify the 4 functions of behavior; attention maintained, access to a tangible, escape from a demand and self stimulatory behavior. We will also enable you to identify the reinforcing properties of each behavior, understand when each of these behaviors are likely to occur and identifying appropriate replacement behaviors.

Description:
The information presented builds on skills learned in the any intro to ABA workshop (i.e., the ABC's). In this workshop you will learn how to arrange the environment to promote language, how to teach the learner to use speech more spontaneously, how to get this language to function in a more social manner (less tightly controlled manding, more social commenting), and lastly you will learn more refined and effective techniques for both discrete trial and naturalistic teaching.

This workshop will cover 1) how to identify if repeated pattern of behavior is functioning as a self-stimulatory behavior, 2) how to measure or record that behavior, 3) how to identify an appropriate & high-probability replacement behavior, and 4) how to use positive reinforcement techniques to target those behaviors
